Sorry I have been MIA, but I went to KOREA!
I had the spur of the moment opportunity to fly Space A with 3 friends to South Korea and I jumped on it. I packed a bag and jumped on a C130.
We flew into Osan and took the bus to Seoul. It was early springtime and cherry blossoms and flowering trees were in full bloom. Everywhere were beautiful splashes of pink and yellow.
Seoul is a lively and colorful city with many friendly and interesting people. I misplaced something TWICE (oops) and both times the items were turned in and were waiting for me where I left them. I loved the Korean culture, how the people were so warm, welcoming and went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. The shopping in Seoul is almost overwhelming.
We went to many of the shopping areas including Lotte Shopping Mall, Itaewon, Namdaemun Market, Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun Market. There are SO many shopping districts, malls, and markets. And where there are stores, there is also numerous food stalls and street vendors along with a million choices of places to eat. I was a little worried about eating in Korea, but I had absolutely zero reason to worry. There are restaurants for everything you could desire. French bakery's, Italian, Thai, Japanese, and American staples like Starbucks, Dunken Doughnuts, Cold Stone and Hard Rock, to name a few. There is no reason to worry about having to eat dog.
We stayed on base in Seoul at the Dragon Hill Lodge and I would totally recommend it. You can't beat the price, it is in a very convenient location and the inside and outside of the hotel is very nice. In addition to a ton of shopping we took the downtown Seoul City Bus Tour to see some of the sights like the Seoul Tower, the Blue House where the president lives, shopping areas and palaces such as Changdeokgung.
There is a ton of things to do and see in Seoul and I wish we had more time. I'll just have to go back! But, as always, it is so nice to come home after traveling. Especially when your husband buys your flowers and spoils you rotten afterwards. Check out these beauties from Boots that were waiting for me:
