There is a country song I heard a while ago with lyrics about The Big D, and while we're not going through a divorce or Dallas like in the song, we are getting ready for a different Big D. Deployment. Things were really up and down there for a while, weather he was going or not going, but it ended up that he is going, for about 6 1/2 months. I debated if I was even going to mention it on here. I'm not going to get into any specifics about where he's going and what he's doing (opsec! ha), but I know all you out there will have lots of good advice and will keep my spirits up while he's away.
My guest room is under here somewhere and so is my yoga mat. What you can't see in the picture are 2 closets with it's contents spilling out and more in Brad's office. It's a pretty incredible amount of gear.

As Brad gears up, I'm trying not to feel like the next half of the year is looming ominously ahead of me. I'm trying not to think about how the bottom of my stomach feels like its falling out. I know I'll be able to talk to him, see his face on skype and I know he'll be fine. I'm going to work on setting up some goals and milestones to work towards while he's away to keep myself motivated. And of course I'll be busy with work and friends. And I'll throw some traveling in there. I'm pretty excited about making the next 7 months go by as quickly as possible!

Blahhh we're gearing up ( no pun intended) for the same thing though he still has months of work ups to do. It is nice you have your job at the barn to keep you busy. I get 10 free hours of daycare per week while he is gone so I hope to actually make it out in the fall. We can pass the time together. :)
It is a great idea to come up with a set of goals to work toward while he is gone to keep you extra busy. I'll have to implement the idea in my own life.
I am going through the same feelings, so call anytime if you need to chat/vent/cry! And enjoy this weekend! That is a great idea about setting up goals. I need to do the same thing!
While my husband isn't in the army, I know a thing or two about long distance relationships (he's Canadian and I'm French). Right now he's back in Canada while I'm waiting to be able to join him in France - he's been gone for a few weeks and we don't know how many months we'll be away from each other yet. It's tough being on your own when you're used to have your spouse around, but those 6 months will go quicker than you think, and in the meantime we'll try to keep your spirits up ! Feel free to email me :) transatlanticlove@gmail.com
Bisous !
I love you Sweetie! I hate that you two have to go through this, but these six months are going to go by so fast, I think. Traveling, and your friends, and horses -- and Maine!! Brad's going to kick ass over there. Before you know it you'll have a whole ton of new Facebook photos and will be stressing about making the house perfect for Brad's homecoming. :)
You are such a strong and positive woman that I know you'll handle this time with grace. I know it doesn't make it any easier, though, to say goodbye for now - all you can do is keep yourself busy and make the most of the un-ideal. Absence does have a way of making the heart grow fonder, though, not to mention the opportunity for reunion... umm... cuddling?
We love you Eve. You have such a wonderful network of friends, and I am sure Brad will chat with you often. Hope it flies by quickly.
