Eat up!

Numerous health benefits make it even more enjoyable to enjoy fall season favorites.

Apple with caramel - my dessert last night.

According to this website there are at least 10 very good reasons to chow down on a nice big juicy apple:

Bone protection, asthma help, Alzheimer's prevention, lower cholesterol, lung cancer prevention, breast cancer prevention, colon cancer prevention, liver cancer prevention, diabetes management and weight loss.

Pumpkin has numerous health benefits as well:

Beta carotene - people who eat a diet rich in beta-carotene are less likely to develop certain cancers. Potassium - lowers the risk for hypertension. Zinc - supports immune system, aids in bone density. High in Fiber - prevents cancer and heart disease.

Pumpkin helps with prostate cancer prevention and has anti-inflammatory properties.

And bonus! It's great for your skin - contains lots of anti-oxidant vitamins A and C, as well as zinc and alpha-hydroxy-acids which helps to reduce the signs of aging.

So many fall recipes call for cinnamon and I am using it a lot these days. Good to know that cinnamon has a lot of reasons to sprinkle it on other than it's delish taste:

Great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium, helps lower LDL cholesterol, regulatory effect on blood sugar, helps yeast infections, reduced the proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells, and has an anti-clotting effect on the blood. "One study found that smelling cinnamon boosts cognitive function and memory."

"In a study at Copenhagen University, patients given half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder combined with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast had significant relief in arthritis pain after one week and could walk without pain within one month."

Amazing!

This is Mike's favorite! He loves caramel. I'll have to find some and surprise. You know we are decreasing our sugar intake, so I have to find a good product that isn't made with pink, blue or yellow fake sugar packets. I have heard of them, just need to find it. I just had an apple with crunchy peanut butter. You have inspired me to get out the cinnamon, agave and pumpkin. I am sure I can come up with something incredible. We both love fall just the same, I think. It is starting to look like fall here now. So pretty.
